Technical Features
Technical Highlights & Performance
Learn how TerraForge Mobile URP achieves cutting-edge performance and visual fidelity under the hood.
Zero Hardware Tessellation Architecture
Mobile GPUs (ARM Mali, Qualcomm Adreno, and Apple Silicon) do not support DX11 hardware tessellation or suffer severe battery/thermal throttling under dynamic subdivision. TerraForge Mobile URP delivers realistic snow and mud displacement using a hybrid vertex elevation pipeline combined with procedural track mesh ribbons, guaranteeing 60+ FPS on mid-range and flagship smartphones.
Hybrid 3D Track Mesh Ribbons (Procedural Strips)
Vehicle tire tracks and continuous footprint paths are generated at runtime through zero-alloc procedural mesh strips. Featuring hardware depth biasing (Offset -2, -2) and smart airborne detection, the track meshes follow suspension movements and terrain curvature with zero Z-fighting or polygon flickering.
Texture2DArray Memory Optimization
Mobile OpenGL ES, Vulkan, and Metal pipelines are strictly constrained by texture sampler limits and memory bandwidth. By packing all terrain layers into unified 2D Texture Arrays (AlbedoArray and NormalArray), TerraForge Mobile reduces texture sampler consumption to just 2 global physical samplers while supporting up to 8 distinct terrain layers.
Vulkan & Metal Compute Shader Displacement
Interactive surface deformations (tire ruts, footprints, and explosions) are rendered into a lightweight R8/R16F RenderTexture via an optimized Compute Shader kernel. Configurable bilateral blurring and wind-melt recovery speeds ensure organic deformation without taxing CPU frame budgets.
Biplanar Cliffs Auto-Projection Module
Automatically detects steep slopes and vertical cliff faces across the terrain, projecting rock albedo and normal maps along dominant horizontal axes. This eliminates texture stretching on mountains while consuming half the sampling bandwidth of traditional desktop Triplanar mapping.
Mobile Wetness & Slope-Aware Puddles
A lightweight mobile weather module that simulates post-rain environments. Using surface slope thresholds and PBR smoothness boosts, water naturally accumulates in low-lying flat areas and crevices while preserving high frame rates.
